The Elliott Bay House, designed by FINNE Architects and facing Seattle’s Puget Sound, matches the spectacular views of the Olympic Mountains and the sound itself with a little nature-inspired design of its own. The residence is at once recognizable by a roofline that reaches out towards the water and opens up beautiful framed views of the sound. The house itself wraps around a pool which not only adds a touch of serenity to the property, but also gathers all the roof drainage via a downspout that creates a 10-foot waterfall.
Inside, the living room sports exposed ceiling beams that guides attention to the views, framed by floor-to-ceiling windows. The home’s wood and steel stairs are highlighted by water jet-cut steel railings that mimic hand-drawn brush strokes. Perhaps most impressively, the luxurious home is also very sustainable and energy-efficient, being designed to be 40% more insulated than required by code.
