Demna Gvasalia staged Balenciaga’s first menswear collection for Spring/Summer 2017 in Paris. The fashion show took place in the rooftop atrium of Paris’ Lycée Saint-Lous-de-Gonzague on June 22. Under Gvasalia’s direction, Balenciaga’s menswear aesthetic was notably more structured and formal. Looks that graced the runway were an eclectic mix of oversized jackets and boxy, linear silhouettes, inspired by Gvasalia’s previous fall 2016 women’s catwalk. Models donned large tote bags, cropped tight trousers, high-waisted pants and long chain accessories that hung from their pants.
