Innovation lab Jigsaw and VICE have partnered up on a documentary to highlight repressive governments that have nonchalantly restricted and censored information from individuals and the media. “The Fight to Overcome Censorship: Blackout” takes viewers from Pakistan and their longstanding anti-gay laws to Venezuela where mainstream media’s been tightly controlled to Thailand where a cyber war’s erupted over internet censorship. These are all first-hand, on-the-ground accounts that show the great lengths to which citizens have been forced to go in order to experience some level of freedom. The 80-minute documentary can be seen now on YouTube, while you can check out a short trailer above.
