Lamborghini SC63 Debuts as First Hybrid Endurance Racing Prototype at Goodwood Festival of Speed

Lamborghini Squadra Corse, the Motorsport division of Automobili Lamborghini, revealed its first hybrid endurance racing prototype at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The Lamborghini SC63 is the next step in the automaker’s evolution toward electrification and hybridization.

The Lamborghini SC63 carries Lamborghini Centro Stile’s design DNA with features that include a carbon fiber body construction, Ligier carbon fiber monocoque chassis, Hypercar / GTP technical regulation floor and rear wings, Y-shaped LED headlights, and 29/71 – 18 front and 34/71 – 18 rear tires. The race car comes in an iconic Verde Mantis, Nero Noctis, Bianco Alpi, and Rosso Sangue colorway.

The Lamborghini SC63 is powered by a 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V8 gasoline-electric hybrid powertrain that produces 670 hp, the maximum allowed by racing regulations, paired with a class-mandated hybrid system that includes the XTRAC with seven speeds transversal gearbox, the battery with a Bosch electronic control unit, and a motor-generator unit. What makes the engine different are the turbos mounted outside the engine, created specifically for the racing program for better performance and maintenance.

Testing is still ongoing for the SC63 in preparation for the 2024 racing season. The track versions will likely feature factory drivers Mirko Bortolotti and Andrea Caldarelli and F1 drivers Daniil Kvyat and Romain Grosjean.

The Lamborghini SC63 will debut in the Hypercar class at the 2024 FIA World Endurance Championship and the GTP class at the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. We should have more development news as the 2024 race season draws nearer. For more information, please visit the Lamborghini website.
