Nichols Cars N1A | A Lighter and Stronger McLaren Can-Am Supercar

Nichols Cars, headed by CEO Steve Nichols, unveiled the N1A. Inspired by McLaren M1A, a Group 7 race car prototype from the 1960s, the N1A is a road-legal performance vehicle.

Steve Nichols was the Chief Designer of the McLaren MP4/4 that won 15 out of 16 races during the 1988 season. Eventually establishing Nichols Cars in 2017, its first offering is the N1A, a modernized M1A. It features a bonded aluminum sheet extrusion and carbon fiber panel chassis and body construction, an aggressive aerodynamic profile, AP Racing brakes, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, 19” rear wheels, and 20” rear wheels.

Inside the N1A, the cockpit is roomier than the M1A and features leather and Alcantara upholstery, billet aluminum detailing, and analog gauges.

The powertrain for the N1A comes in three flavors that include an entry-level LT1 GM V8 with 460 hp, an LT1 GM V8 with 520 hp, and a 6.2-liter aluminum block LS3 V8 with 650 hp manually assembled at Langford Performance Engineering. Nichols Cars offers a Graziano six-speed manual transmission and standard traction control. Power steering and ABS are optional.

The Nichols Cars N1A, limited to only 100 units, is expected to start production in the latter half of 2023. The first 15 hand-built cars will run on a 7.0-liter motor and come with distinct commemorative details in honor of the 15 wins the McLaren MP4/4 scored in 1988. No official pricing has been revealed, although it’s expected to go for around $582,000. For more information or to inquire about reserving a unit, please visit the official Nichols Cars website.
