Oris, the Hölstein-based luxury watchmaker, introduced a limited-edition addition to its Big Crown collection, the Hank Aaron Limited Edition. The watch celebrates the life and legacy of humanitarian and MLB Hall of Famer Hank Aaron and is limited to only 2,297 examples, one for each of Hank’s RBIs (runs batted in), which still stands as an MLB record.
Born in Mobile, Alabama in 1934, Henry Louis ‘Hank’ Aaron entered the Negro Leagues in the early 1950s when the baseball leagues were still segregated. He was recruited into the MLB by the Milwaukee Braves, now known as the Atlanta Braves, where he would eventually go on to break Babe Ruth’s all-time home-run record. Inducted into baseball’s Hall of Fame in 1986, he would later set up the Chasing the Dream Foundation with his wife, with the aim of offering scholarships to disadvantaged youths. Hank Aaron passed away in 2021.
The 40mm Hank Aaron Limited Edition watch, based on the Big Crown Pointer Date, comes in a blue, red, and white color palette to mirror Hank Aaron’s uniform. It features a double domed sapphire crystal, fluted bezel, white dial, indices, numbers, and hands with Superluminova C3, cathedral-style hands, an oversized winding crown at 3 o’clock, and a solid screw-down caseback engraved with an image of Hank Aaron in his signature cross-handed batting stance. The watch has a water resistance of up to 50 meters and comes with a special box featuring Aaron’s ’44’ jersey number, a certificate, a blue leather strap with baseball-glove stitching, as well as a blue, red, and white NATO strap.
The Hank Aaron Limited Edition watch runs on the Oris Caliber 754 automatic movement, which features the model’s pointer date complication and a 38-hour power reserve.
The Oris Hank Aaron Limited Edition watch retails for $2,500 and is available from official retailers. For more information, please visit the official Oris website.
