Western Digital Corporation has unveiled its prototype for a 1 terabyte SD card. In their press release, the tech company expresses a desire to continue pushing the boundaries of technology, given the demand for higher resolution and storage capacity within the film and photography industry. They also intend for these new SD cards to be heavily utilized for VR purposes. To further illustrate the significance of their evolution, 16 years ago SanDisk introduced the 64 megabyte SD card, and there are 1 million megabytes in a terabyte. Though this 1TB memory card is only in the production stages, we can begin to imagine the endless possibilities of this technology and what it means for the tech industry.
