Red Wing Shoe Company releases an installation called “Marching To A Different Drum” featuring the new wooden tanning drum at the company’s S.B. Foot leather tanning facility. In order to craft and hone the finest leather, Red Wing Shoe Co. submerges their leather hides into various tanning solutions within a six ton tanning drum that slowly rotates for several hours to days. The tanning drum, made out of African wood called yellow teak, retains the heat of the chemical reactions to produce and deliver natural leather for each of their shoes. Watch the process below.
