Designer Christopher Kane presented his Spring/Summer 2017 collection at London Collection Men, giving us a contemporary lineup that pulled from his own upbringing. The overall aesthetic is casual and keeps washed and ironed sportswear in mind. Graphics like traditional gingham and checks are blended with reflective thread and even more crimewatch components like police procedural and firing range targets. This makes way for bold graphics and patterns, while fabric techniques and finishes like liquid nylon, Panama wool, techno twill and techno hopsack are all leveraged to really push the bounds here. With many of the pieces aiming to be breathable and environmentally sustainable, Kane’s also brought waterproofing into the mix as well. There’s a ton of contrast also, as the collection plays with hard and soft colors while pushing to showcase the order and disorder of a British masculine identity.
