Lion, an upcoming film that stars Dev Patel, Rooney Mara and Nicole Kidman, has premiered an exclusive trailer that is already establishing itself as a top contender for the awards season. The movie, based on Saroo Brierley’s 2013 memoir A Long Way Home, tells the story of a 5-year-old Indian child named Saroo who finds himself lost in Calcutta. His unsuccessful search leads him to the home of an Australian couple, who adopt the wandering young boy. When Saroo grows older, he is plagued by a painstaking need to find his family. Patel states: “This became his completely-consuming obsession, finding this needle in a haystack. This man’s determination and perseverance was incredible.” The powerful film will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September and later in theatres on November 25th.
