Burberry FW23 by Daniel Lee is a Debut Collection That Explores British Style

Burberry’s Fall/Winter 2023 show was a hotly anticipated highlight at London Fashion Week. It marked Daniel Lee’s debut as the brand’s creative director and highlighted his vision for the fashion house.

Kennington Park served as the show’s venue, inspired by 19th-century Burberry tents and the outdoors. The collection showed Daniel Lee’s touches to envision a new brand identity, a return of the Burberry’s Burberry Prorsum ‘Equestrian Knight’ logo, and a callback to Burberry’s storied vBritish roots.

The Equestrian Knight Design, enlarged, was used on a short-sleeve-draped dress and featured on accessories, including saddle bags, satchels, and boots. Other pieces showed distinctly British detailing like the iconic ducks of Kensington Park presented as a brushed pattern on a dress, Scottish pleated tartan-inspired kilts over trousers, and Aran and argyle sweaters.

The collection also featured pieces that explored rose motifs like the English rose embellished on suit jackets, a graphic tee with ‘Not All Roses Are Red’ text, purple and yellow roses on overcoats, dressing gowns with merlot and orange roses and purple leather trim, and p-dresses with purple and black blooms.

The Burberry check was explored into large-scale illusions and bright colors on tailoring, blanket coats, knits, tops, wool duffle coats, and accessories.

Finally, Burberry’s iconic trench coat was reimagined with oversized, softer outlines, faux fur-trimmed lapels, heritage green shades, and sleek shearling collars.
