2024 Lexus GX Gets Angular Redesign and Six Trim Options

Lexus unveils the third generation of its SUV with the 2024 Lexus GX. It replaces the 2022 Lexus GX 460, which had a relatively unchanged design since the model’s debut in 2010. The mid-size entry into the brand’s SUV line comes with an all-new platform, an updated powertrain, and modern tech.

The 2024 Lexus GX’s rugged and angular Land Cruiser-esque exterior has the same body-on-frame GA-F platform as the LX 600 and measures 197 inches long. It features the iconic Lexus spindle grille, a design element carried into the front fascia, redesigned front bumper and fenders, a more upright windshield, a power hatchback with an independently opening glass, a tailgate kick sensor, a double-wishbone suspension up front paired with a multilink setup in the rear, and 33-inch all-terrain tires mounted on 18-inch wheels. The 2024 GX will be available in six trim variants: Premium, Premium+, Luxury, Luxury+, Overtrail, and Overtrail+.

On the inside, the 2024 Lexus GX has a driver-focused cockpit design and a horizontal instrument panel design. It offers several options for customization. Semi-aniline leather and NuLuxe leather upholstery in Black, Dapple Gray, and Saddle Tan, while the Overtrail models get a mix of either Black or Chateau, both with Olive Ultrasuede accents. The Premium and Luxury trims have three rows of seats with space for up to seven, with the standard second-row bench and a pair of captain’s chairs as options. The Overtrail models are two-row configurations with maximum seating for up to five. Other options include The GX’s third-row power controls, a cooled storage bin, and a digital key fob.

The infotainment system is centered around a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14-inch infotainment display. The software supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There are dials for temperature and volume control, buttons for operating the transfer case and differentials behind the gearshift on the center console, and an optional head-up display. The Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 comes standard.

The 2024 Lexus GX runs on a four-wheel drive 3.4L twin-turbo V6 that produces 349 horsepower and 479 lb.-ft of torque, routed through a 10-speed automatic transmission. For the energy-conscious, a hybrid powertrain is slated to join the lineup later. The SUV’s towing capacity stands at 8,000 lbs. for Premium, Premium+, and Overtrail grades with the standard tow hitch.

Lexus hasn’t released any pricing details for the 2024 Lexus GX as of current writing, but we expect more information to come nearer to its rollout in early 2024.
