BMW Motorrad ConnectedRide Smartglasses Puts Head-Up Tech In Your Eyeline

BMW Motorrad, the motorcycle brand and division of the German automotive manufacturer, recently debuted the BMW Motorrad ConnectedRide Smartglasses. The new eyewear provides a head-up display for motorcycles.

The technology centers around A head-up display that can be turned on or off at any time via the optical projection module sitting above the right lens on the inside. The BMW Motorrad design interface shows information about speed, speed limit, gear, and navigation in the wearer’s direct field of view. The display can be turned off using the left temple button or the BMW Motorrad Connected app. The eyewear’s battery holds a 10-hour charge and can be charged via a USB-C cable.

The BMW Motorrad Connected app, available on Google Play or the App Store, links the glasses and the bike to the user’s smartphone via Bluetooth. The app allows users access to all the smartglasses functions, including adjusting the position of the data display to the field of view and sitting position on the motorcycle and choosing which driving information is shown or hidden.

The ConnectedRide Smartglasses features an Anthracite frame construction and are available in two sizes. They can be worn under a helmet and come with interchangeable tinted and clear lenses, as well as four different nose pads. An RX adapter is available separately that fits inside the smartglasses, allowing corrective lenses to be clipped into the smartglasses.

The BMW Motorrad ConnectedRide Smartglasses should be available within the year and are expected to retail for around $750. For more information, please check out the BMW Motorrad website.
