Maison Margiela x Pendleton 2023 Co-Ed Collection Celebrates Southern Goth Punk

Maison Margiela, the Parisian haute couture house, recently released its collaborative project with Pendleton Woolen Mills, the Oregon-based heritage lifestyle brand. The Maison Margiela x Pendleton 2023 Co-Ed Collection combines the plaids of the American heritage weaver with the haute couture stylings of Maison Margiela’s Creative Director John Galliano into a cohesive whole.

The Maison Margiela x Pendleton 2023 Co-Ed Collection features gender neutral outerwear, tailored pieces, blousons, chinos, prom trousers dresses, jumpers, denims, shirting, and a sweatshirt that follow Southern Gothic themes. A common throughline in the collection is the use of Pendleton archive patterns like a red buffalo pattern, a sunset plaid in pink and blue pastels, and a windowpane check in red, white and black. Unique to the collection is the use of the decortiqué technique to create the new Rorschach cutting to reveal the Pendleton linings on several pieces.

Highlight pieces in the collection include a walnut and red Pendleton fringe cardigan evoking an unfinished aesthetic, a beige Pendleton yoke bomber jacket with a Pendleton check wool Rorschach yoke with contrast nylon sleeves for a decortiqué, and a multicolor Pendleton wool tulle shirt embodying the dressing in haste concept. Accessories in the collection include several color iterations of the 5AC Cinema Inferno micro cross body bag, a black Tabi rhinestone lace-up, and a beige Tabi western boot.

Check out the entire Maison Margiela x Pendleton 2023 Co-Ed Collection in the lookbook. The 2023 Co-Ed Collection, with prices ranging from $1,170 for the Pendleton Yoke Trousers to $4,115 for the Fringe Trench Coat, is available now in-store and online via the Maison Margiela webstore.
