Ruf Tribute, R Spyder and CTR3 Evo Takes Porsche Builds Into New Directions

Ruf Automobile GmbH, the German car manufacturer, revealed three bespoke builds at this year’s The Quail, a Motorsports Gathering in Monterey. The three custom-made models come in different configurations, but they all share the same Porsche DNA.

First off, Ruf presented the Tribute, a hand-built carbon fiber one-off homage to the Porsche 911. It features a carbon fiber monocoque chassis, an integrated roll cage, and a four-wheel double wishbone suspension with horizontally opposed coilovers. It runs on a 3.6-liter air-cooled flat-six capable of churning out 550 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque. It features twin turbochargers, fly-by-wire throttle, two-stage resonance induction, dual catalytic converters, billet-aluminum heads, four-cam three-valve technology, variable valve timing and lift, and a dry-sump oil system.

The R Spyder is a two-seat open cockpit design concept with a carbon-fiber hood, minimal windshield, ducktail spoiler, fender-mounted cameras, and helmet compartment. It’s powered by a 4.0-liter naturally aspirated flat-six paired with a six-speed manual gearbox, the R Spyder delivers 515 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque. It features DLC-coated rocker arms, variable valve intake, and exhaust timing valvetrain, a McPherson-strut front, a lightweight five-link rear suspension, and a carbon-ceramic braking system.

Completing the triumvirate is the CTR3 Evo, the most powerful track-focused two-seater Ruf created thus far. Decked in a Kevlar-composite body, it has a steel chassis, automatically deployable rear wing, front McPherson strut suspension, and a multi-link rear suspension. It runs on a 3.8-liter water-cooled twin-turbocharged flat-six engine paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, all delivering 800 hp and 730 lb-ft of torque. It also features variable valve timing, variable lift, dry-sump lubrication, direct fuel injection, and six-piston calipers on 15-inch carbon-ceramic brakes.
