The BMW i7 xDrive60 is an immersive journey into what BMW has to offer with its latest luxury sedan. From the moment we laid eyes on this flagship electric sedan, it was evident that BMW had poured a lot into redefining the essence of comfort, modern luxury and technological advancement.
Exterior Design
The exterior of the 2023 BMW i7 xDrive60 is a seamless blend of sophistication and elegance. The distinctive grille design and intricate detailing are a testament to BMW’s commitment to aesthetics and aerodynamics. The bold lines and sleek curves not only enhanced the car’s visual appeal but also contributed to its overall performance and efficiency. Our model came in an Oxide Grey Metallic paint scheme, though there are several options to choose from. One of the most striking features of the i7 was its advanced lighting system. The crystal headlights and illuminated kidney grille, which come with the Executive Package, added a touch of sophistication to the front of the vehicle.
Cabin Experience Like No Other
Stepping inside, we were greeted by an interior that resonated with opulence and forward-thinking design. The true highlight was the massive 32.3-inch 8K BMW Theater Screen tailored for the rear passengers, offering an unmatched entertainment experience. When not in use, it folds up against the lined sunroof. The optional feature comes with the Rear Executive Lounge Seating option that also includes reclining seat and footrest and Executive Lounge Rear Console. What truly captivated us was the seamless integration of 5.5-inch touch screen controls on the doors’ armrests, granting us complete control over our in-car entertainment and comfort settings. Everything from the rear seats, the screen, and even the infotainment system.
The comfort provided by the i7 xDrive60 was a standout feature that enveloped us in a world of luxury. While the multifunction rear seats did offer ample legroom, taller passengers might find the headroom slightly restrictive. The rear massaging seats that came with the Luxury Rear Seating Package we had on our vehicle elevated the ride into that rare stratum of comfort. The opulent leather, merino wool, and cashmere elements compensated for any minor inconvenience, creating an ambiance of extravagant comfort that left a lasting impression.
Tech Experience
The technology integrated into the i7 xDrive60 was not only advanced but also seamlessly incorporated into the vehicle’s design. The Live Cockpit Pro feature that comes natively on the i7 provides navigation, an intuitive head-up display, digital instrument cluster and central info display. It is voice operated and iDrive Controller integrated. The standard Interaction Bar with Ambient Lighting responded to our touch, creating an immersive and customizable ambiance that suited our preferences and mood. The integration of the My BMW App transformed our smartphones into a control center, allowing us to unlock and lock the car, check its charging and range status, and even locate nearby charging stations effortlessly.
Navigating the in-car features was a breeze, thanks to the intuitive voice assistant system. From adjusting the temperature to customizing the interior lighting, the i7 xDrive60 responded seamlessly to our every command, making the entire driving experience effortlessly convenient and enjoyable. The included Connected Package Pro features real-time traffic monitoring, On-Street Parking Info for select cities, BMW Remote Services, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, and OTA software upgrades.
Driving Experience
On the road, the i7 xDrive60’s performance was nothing short of remarkable. The all-wheel drive system provided a smooth and stable driving experience, even on challenging terrains. With its dual high-performance electric motors generating an impressive 536 horsepower and 549 lb-ft of torque, the i7 reaches an exhilarating 0-60 mph acceleration in just 4.5 seconds. The handling was agile and responsive, offering a sense of control and confidence that enhanced our overall driving pleasure. The adaptive cruise control system, although sensitive at times, ensured a comfortable and secure journey, while the lane-keeping and lane-tracking features provided an added layer of safety and convenience.
Let’s talk about range. On the standard 19-inch wheels, the i7 offers an estimated driving range of 318 miles per charge, but with the larger 21″ Individual Aerodynamic wheels we had on our unit, the sedan’s range drops. The car’s large 101.7-kWh battery pack is sufficient enough though, and it can be hooked up to DC fast charging stations.
The 2023 BMW i7 xDrive60 starts off at $120,295. Our drive unit came down to around $151,995 with the addition of features that include the Executive Package, Luxury Rear Seating Package, Rear Executive Lounge Seating, and Bowers & Wilkins sound system.
