The Grand Seiko SBGD215 is the latest masterpiece from the Japanese watchmaker, and it was unveiled at Watches & Wonders Geneva 2024.
Since its inception in 1960, Grand Seiko has been a symbol of horological perfection, embodied by the majestic lion motif. The SBGD215 draws inspiration from this iconic emblem, infusing every detail with strength and dignity. Its design, reminiscent of a white lion majestically perched atop a snow-covered peak, is sure to inspire awe and reverence.
The SBGD215 boasts a 44.5mm platinum 950 case adorned with 148 diamonds and 145 sapphires, meticulously set to create a mesmerizing visual spectacle. The watch also has a dual-curved sapphire and, despite its opulent appearance, maintains a water resistance of 100m. It comes with a blue crocodile leather strap with a three-fold clasp and push button release.
Powering the Grand Seiko Masterpiece Collection Spring Drive 8-Day Jewelry Watch SBGD215 is the Caliber 9R01 Spring Drive movement visible through a sapphire crystal caseback. Developed by the esteemed Micro Artist Studio, the movement features 56 jewels, a power reserve indicator, a quick correction function of the time difference, and a 192-hour power reserve.
As an exclusive addition to Grand Seiko’s Masterpiece Collection, the SBGD215 is limited to just eight pieces worldwide, making it a rare treasure coveted by collectors and connoisseurs alike. It retails for $300,000 USD. For more information, please visit the official Grand Seiko website.
