Ducati recently presented the new ‘Monster Senna’ Special Edition at the Autodromo Enzo and Dino Ferrari during the Formula 1 Grand Prix. This limited-edition bike, with only 341 units being produced, is a tribute to the legendary Brazilian Formula 1 driver Ayrton Senna. It’s not just about celebrating Senna’s career; it’s also about the strong bond between the racer and Ducati.
The collaboration between Ducati and Ayrton Senna traces its roots back to the early 1990s. Senna, a passionate motorcycle enthusiast, received a Ducati 851 SP from Claudio Castiglioni, Ducati’s owner at the time. Senna was particularly taken with the Ducati 916, which led to the creation of the Ducati 916 Senna Edition in 1994. This limited edition, capped at 300 units, sold out quickly, even after Senna’s tragic death. The partnership continued with the 1199 Panigale Senna Edition in 2014, and now, the new Ducati Monster Senna carries on this legacy.
The Ducati Monster Senna stands out with its exclusive livery designed by Centro Stile Ducati. The paint scheme, incorporating yellow, green, and blue elements, is a tribute to Senna’s racing helmet and the Brazilian flag. The bike also includes special yellow brake calipers, a distinctive seat, and a dedicated dashboard animation. Each bike is individually numbered and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
High-end components enhance both the look and performance of the Monster Senna. The Öhlins suspension system, including a NIX 30 front fork, steering damper, and rear mono-shock, offers excellent handling and ride comfort. The bike has forged aluminum wheels and Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tires. Carbon fiber fenders and a high-performance Termignoni exhaust system add to its premium feel.
The Ducati Monster Senna is powered by a 937cc 11° Testastretta eight-valve Desmo twin engine. This engine produces 111 horsepower at 9,250 rpm and 69 lb-ft of torque at 6,500 rpm, providing a broad power range for diverse riding conditions. The bike is agile and responsive, with a dry weight of just 355 pounds. The latest aluminum sheet ‘front frame’ enhances the bike’s rigidity, steering, and weight distribution.
The braking system features Brembo Stylema calipers and twin 320mm front discs for superior stopping power. The electronics suite includes three riding modes, eight-level traction control, cornering ABS with three settings, and a quick shift system for seamless gear changes.
The Ducati Monster Senna was officially unveiled at the Formula 1 GP of Emilia-Romagna at Imola, with notable figures such as Ducati CEO Claudio Domenicali, Senna Brands CEO Bianca Senna, and Formula 1 President Stefano Domenicali in attendance. This exclusive bike is expected to be highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts.
While the exact price hasn’t been announced, the limited production and top-tier features suggest it will be a premium offering. For more information, please visit the official Ducati website.
