BMW’s Concept Speedtop Continues Touring Legacy With Shooting Brake Design

BMW has introduced the Concept Speedtop, a limited small-series production, at the Concorso d‘Eleganza at the Grand Hotel Villa d‘Este at Lake Como. The vehicle continues BMW’s Touring legacy, featuring a Shooting Brake design, flowing lines, and a sparkling brown exterior.

The BMW Concept Speedtop embodies timeless elegance with its flowing silhouette, a design trait shared with iconic Touring models, such as the 328 Touring Coupé, M3 Touring, M5 Touring, and the unique Z4 Touring.

A slim waist, sculpted shark nose, and a long hood define its elegant exterior. A central spline flows from the bonnet over the roof to the rear spoiler, which is highlighted by a unique color gradient that shifts from ‘Floating Sunstone Maroon’ to ‘Floating Sundown Silver’ on the roof. Winglets on the upper door panel and custom-designed two-tone 14-spoke wheels reinforce its elegance.

The interior carries over the ‘Floating Sunstone Maroon’ paintwork and harmoniously blends it with ‘Moonstone White’ seats. In addition, a light gap in the headlining finished in two-tone leather echoes the exterior spline and serves as indirect atmospheric lighting. Details such as Budapest style perforated leather and crystal inserts appear on seats, door panels, the steering wheel, and other places.

Tailored storage compartments are also present in the interior behind the seats. These stowage areas are fitted with leather straps and provide space for two tailored bags made by Schedoni. An additional compartment below the regular luggage compartment provides extra space.

According to Adrian van Hooydonk, Head of BMW Group Design, ‘The BMW Concept Speedtop is characterised first of all by its profile. It is very unique in the automotive industry. In this way, we have created an exclamation mark for our entire lineup of vehicles, especially for the Touring models.’

Only 70 units of the BMW Concept Speedtop will be produced, highlighting its exclusivity, or as BMW calls it, ‘an invitation to dream.’ For more information, visit the brand’s website.
