After a four-year hiatus, Audemars Piguet has revived its [RE]Master collection with the new Audemars Piguet [RE]Master02 Self Winding watch. This timepiece follows the success of the [RE]Master01, launched in early 2020. The [RE]Master02 is a contemporary reinterpretation of the 1960 Model 5159BA, featuring modern enhancements and a nod to the original’s brutalist aesthetic.
The [RE]Master collection by Audemars Piguet began with the [RE]Master01, a homage to a 1940s chronograph. For its latest release, the brand drew inspiration from its archives, specifically the asymmetrical 1961 Model 5159BA. This design, characterized by its sharp angles and unique shape, was produced in limited numbers. The new [RE]Master02 takes this classic design and updates it with 21st-century manufacturing tech, a testament to the brand’s commitment to innovation. The result is a watch that retains the charm of its predecessor while offering today’s watchmaking technical innovations.
The Audemars Piguet [RE]Master02 stands out with its 41mm 18k sand-gold case, a new alloy that sits between white and pink gold. The dial, named ‘Bleu Nuit, Nuage 50,’ features a deep blue color achieved through a PVD process, creating striking visual effects under different lighting. The dial’s design includes twelve compartments with linear satin finishes, sand gold hands, glare-proof sapphire crystal and caseback, and water resistance up to 30 meters.
The [RE]Master02, visible through the sapphire caseback, runs on the Audemars Piguet Caliber 7129, an ultra-thin self-winding movement measuring just 2.8mm thick. This caliber, a derivative of the Royal Oak Jumbo’s Caliber 7121, features 211 parts, 31 jewels, Geneva stripes, sunray brushing, and circular graining, a 22k gold rotor with asymmetric cut-outs, and a 52-hour power reserve.
The Audemars Piguet [RE]Master02 is an exclusive limited edition of only 250 pieces and retails for $47,200. For more details and to secure one of these unique timepieces, visit Audemars Piguet’s official website.
