CBS has announced that Stephen Colbert, the host, writer and executive producer of The Colbert Report, will succeed David Letterman as the host of The Late Show, once Letterman retires from the broadcast. It’s a five-year agreement between Colbert and CBS and comes days after Letterman announced his retirement on air after being the iconic host of the show for 21 years. Specific creative elements and even the location of the Colbert-hosted Late Show have yet to be determined and will be announced at a later date.
