Tesla just announced a new battery system that can help your home or office get off the power grid by providing efficient energy storage. Powerwall has been released in a 7 kWh and 10 kWh version. The unit measures 52.1″ x 33.9″ x 7.1″ and weighs 220 lbs. It is designed for indoor or outdoor installation and can be used to save energy derived from solar panels or during low rate periods. The unit comes with integrated heat management and also connects to the internet. The Powerwall system was tested for over a year prior to its announcement and will start shipping across the United States this summer. “The whole thing is a system that just works,” said Tesla CEO Elon Musk at the press conference announcing the Powerwall. It is Musk’s new method of extending efforts to combat climate change by providing products which make it easy for people to be energy efficient in their consumption.
