In Melbourne, a luxury home aptly named the “Wayne Residence” looks ordinary on the surface, yet hides a secret “Batcave” – a custom-made Dark Knight-inspired garage underground. The owners of the property commissioned design studio Molecule to remodel and update the home while keeping its heritage quality intact.
According to Molecule, the main challenge was to house the new owners’ collection of cars, which would require building an unsightly garage on the property. That’s when the solution of putting the garage underground, the idea to design it in stark contrast to the property above, and the move to name the property the “Wayne Residence” was born.
