Gosha Rubchinskiy got an invite from Pitti Immagine to show in Florence for Spring 2017. With inspiration coming from the life and death of Italian film director and writer Pier Paolo Pasolini, the designer showcased some of his old tricks and brought his work into a new light as well. With the stage set inside a long-abandoned tobacco factory from the 1930s, Rubchinskiy delivered a very directional collection. We saw the designer’s Eastern Bloc flare blend with a ton of Italian heritage. This included a string of collaboration pieces with Italian sportswear brands like Fila, Kappa, and Sergio Tacchini. There’s also a bit of American presence for S/S 2017, as Gosha teamed up with Levi’s for Gosha-brand denims and corduroy jackets. But as great as all these pieces were, given that this presentation took place during Pitti Uomo in Firenze, we can’t help but to notice all the tailored pieces Gosha’s shown here. One of the earliest looks in the show paired a clean navy suit with a Fila x Gosha tee underneath. There’s another where we saw double breasted jackets in broader and wider in the shoulder area.
