2022 Defender 90 and 110 Get Supercharged V8 Variants

Land Rover’s introducing the Defender V8 90 and 110 for model year 2022, giving the iconic SUV a faster, supercharged option that’s churning out 518 horsepower. For those that don’t think the agile, turbocharged 395 horsepower X and X-Dynamic variants deliver enough, the British automaker’s expanded the lineup and even the options for customizing your dream Defender even further.

The new Defender V8 Carpathian Edition leads the charge here, blending the performance of the 5.0-liter supercharged V8 with bespoke chassis settings and transmission tuning. Additional highlights include a Narvik Black contrast roof, hood and tailgate. Bespoke V8 Carpathian Edition badging, Satin Black tow eyes, Carpathian Gloss front and rear skid pans, front grille bar and Xenon Blue brake calipers all help to distinguish this build from the pack. The exclusive Carpathian Grey premium metallic paint job is overlaid with Land Rover Satin Protective Film, a recyclable PU-based wrap that helps to protect the body when you’re going off-roading or making a grocery run.

Step inside the Defender V8 Carpathian Edition and you’ll get much of the same upgrades as we’ve already seen in the V8 lineup as a whole, including the Miko Suedecloth on the seats and Robustec accents. The Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel and illuminated treadplates help to elevate the look and feel of the Defender V8.

The 2022 Defender is also getting better connectivity and an upgraded Pivi Pro infotainment system. With wireless device charging now standard out the box, passengers can take advantage of the signal boosting enhancements which will with network reception and the Wi-Fi’s signal. Meanwhile, the Pivi Pro system is getting a larger 11.4-inch touchscreen as an option. That’s a new curved glass interface that’s 60 percent larger than the standard screen.

All 2022 Land Rover Defender trims will be getting some new optional exterior packs. The Bright Pack gives a Noble Chrome finish to the front and rear skid pans, front grille bar and badging while the Extended Bright Pack adds Ceres Silver to the lower body cladding and wheel arches.

For the Defender X, Defender X-Dynamic and Defender V8, customers can tack on the new Extended Black Pack which brings a Gloss Black finish to the front and rear skid pans, front grille bar, hood checkerplate, badging, lower body cladding and wheel arches.

The entire 2022 Land Rover Defender range will hit showrooms this summer with pricing for the market coming as we get closer to then. For now, see more of the Land Rover Defender V8 in the short wheelbase 90 in the gallery and contact your local Land Rover dealer for more details.
