Breitling recently hosted the Breitling Summit where we were introduced to their Super AVII watch series as the brand peeled back the curtain on the inspiration behind these new timepieces. The Super AVI collection features five aviation-inspired watches, each helping to honor four powerful and memorable aircrafts. With pilots wearing flight gloves, oversized crowns, 24-hour markings on the inner bezels and the red-tipped GMT hands all help to blend function with form. Beautiful artwork of the honored planes can be found on the caseback of each watch. Let’s look a bit closer at the new Breitling Super AVI lineup.
First is the Super AVI P-51 Mustang which pays homage to the ultimate fighter plane of its time and is offered in two styles: a stainless steel case with a black dial and gold brown leather strap and also a 18k red gold version with an anthracite dial and a black leather strap.
Secondly, the Super AVI Tribute to Vought F4U Corsair which features a blue dial, tone-on-tone chronograph counters and a black leather strap.
Next is the Super AVI Curtiss Warhawk which has a military green dial, white contrasting chronograph counters and red accents.
Lastly, is the Super AVI Mosquito which features a combination polished and satin-brushed black ceramic bezel and a black dial. It also features red and orange elements that are meant to resemble the markings found on the versatile plane.
The Breitling Super AVI watch series provides instant accessibility of information, much like the original 1953 “Co-Pilot” Ref. 765 AVI aviator’s watch that was a companion to so many.
