Vacheron Constantin Re-Issues The 222 From 1977

The 222 45th Anniversary Historiques Re-Issue from Vacheron Constantin continues to show off the 222 simplicity and charming yellow-gold warmth conceived by legendary watch designer Jorg Hysek in 1977. Retaining the exact measurements of the original with a svelte 37mm x 8mm, it is finished to an even higher degree and bears the Geneva Seal.

The timepiece presents two notable modern refinements, with Super-LumiNova applied on each of the eleven applied gold hour markers for low-light legibility and a subtly re-shaped bracelet underside that hides the original pin-and-collar construction. It is powered by a 2455 manufacture calibre with automatic time-only execution.

Designers have kept all of the commemorative elements and maintained the minimalist dial. This re-issue has the movement’s hand-engraved rotor bearing the original “222” wordmark and engraved motif of the bezel’s unique fluting.

Historique 222 Ref. 4200H/222J-B935 is a boutique exclusive priced at $62,000. No rush on getting your hands on one with Vacheron Constantin confirming this will not be a limited edition but a permanent entry for the Historiques collection, similar to the 1921.
