Andy Warhol’s Patek Philippe Wristwatch Up for Auction at Sotheby’s

Patek Philippe timepieces have graced the wrists of many luminaries over the years. One particular example from the Genevan luxury watch manufacturer found its way into the hands of Andy Warhol.

The Patek Philippe Wristwatch, Reference 2526, features a 36 mm pink gold case fitted with an eggshell color enamel dial and the Serpico Y Laino signature, Patek Philippe’s exclusive retailer in Caracas, Venezuela. It runs on the caliber 12’600 automatic, first introduced in 1955, and has 30 jewels.

Andy Warhol owned two 2526 models, one in a yellow gold case with Breguet numerals and the current lot item in a pink gold case and double signed Serpico Y Laino. It was consigned by the purchaser who bought it in the Andy Warhol Collection, Part II on December 4th, 1988, at Sotheby’s sale. It has an estimated value of around $40,000 – $80,000.
