BMW 7 Series Protection | Designed for Ballistic and Explosion Defense

BMW has been making armored vehicles for 40 years, and the BMW 7 Series Protection is the newest in the long line of protection vehicles from the German car manufacturer. It offers high levels of protection without sacrificing comfort and performance and is subjected to a comprehensive testing system.

The external standard features found on the BMW 7 Series Protection vehicles include the BMW Effortless Door technology, BMW Integral Active Steering, BMW Parking Assistant Plus, and the BMW Kidney Grill iconic blue glow. Optionally, buyers can get the BMW ‘Iconic Glow’ Crystal Headlights and other features available upon request.  

Officially certified to comply with internationally recognized ballistic guidelines for bullet-resistant vehicles, the new BMW 7 Protection offers a range of exterior protection equipment that can include the BMW Protection Core architecture that features a low weight-heavy armored inner core that has minimal impact on performance or interior space, a VR9 protection rating capable of stopping 7.62mm armor-piercing bullets, all-armored window glass, underbody armor, the BMW Protection Command Touch System, a self-sealing fuel tank, and BMW 20” Alloy Wheels with Runflat functionality.

Optional features include an emergency exit function for all passenger doors, a digital second rearview mirror, additional ballistic protection features, BMW side pennant holders, removable blue beacons with audible warning signals, blue and red flashing lights for the front kidney grill and rear, and blue flashing lights for the mirrors or sides.

Interior features include the BMW Sun Protection Blind, Multifunction Seats for both the front and rear, and a Bowers & Wilkins Surround Sound system that has 28 tweeters, mid-range speakers, central bass, and shakers. Optional features include the BMW Executive Lounge seating, the Travel & Comfort System, and a BMW Cooling Box.

Under the hood, the BMW 7 Series Protection is powered by a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 paired with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system that generates 530 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque if opting for an all-electric variant, the electric i7 is available in a Protection trim as well.

BMW also offers protection vehicle driver training at the Driving Center Groß Dölln, which features two or three overnight stays that include full board, single rooms, team support, and insurance.
