Fear of God Athletics | Jerry Lorenzo’s Stamp on Adidas Launches with Fusion of Sportswear and Tailoring

It’s here. In what’s been three years in the making, the collaboration between designer Jerry Lorenzo and Three Stripes, Fear of God Athletics x adidas 2023-2024 Opening Season has officially launched, marking a new era for both adidas and Lorenzo’s streetwear empire. Seeing the final result at a preview in Brooklyn this past weekend fortified everything we’ve come to appreciate about Jerry as well as the strides that Adidas continues to make with their collaborations. This collection aims to redefine sportswear with a blend of nostalgia and futuristic details. The end result is the worlds of basketball meeting tailoring.

The Fear of God Athletics collection completes the trilogy of FoG’s brand vision, standing alongside the self-titled and ESSENTIALS ranges. Lorenzo, the founder of Fear of God, made the bold move from Nike to adidas in 2020, and the result is a collection that reflects his unique creative vision.

The initial campaign provides glimpses of the sportswear, featuring photography by Nadav Kander, with Lorenzo as the creative director. The first round of apparel debuted on December 3, following an immersive event, The Athletics Atmosphere, held in Los Angeles from November 30, followed by pop-ups in New York, Shanghai, and Beijing.

The 2023-2024 season lineup includes an apparel line, three performance sneakers, and one slide, offering a diverse range for enthusiasts. Footwear includes the I BASKETBALL, a low-profile 3-Stripe adaptation inspired by the European football Predator model, and other redesigned classics like the Adilette slider, the L.A. Trainer, and the Rivalry 86 Low.

On the apparel side, expect ‘Black’ and ‘Clay’ technical performance gear, showcasing the high-fashion fusion typical of this collaboration. Materials such as suede fleece, nylon, and polar fleece, combined with Italian calfskin suede and nylon accessories, define the Fear of God aesthetic.

At the forefront is the I BASKETBALL, a low-profile masterpiece inspired by the adidas Predator football boot. Crafted with a premium knit upper, neoprene collar, and a translucent rubber outsole, it exudes a futuristic, neo-noir vibe. The distinct ‘Carbon/Carbon’ and ‘Carbon/Sesame’ colorways add a touch of versatility to this basketball silhouette.

Adding to the lineup is the LOS ANGELES RUNNER, Fear of God’s interpretation of the classic adidas L.A. Trainer. Boasting premium suede, durable ripstop fabric, and a wavy rubber sole unit, this iteration promises style and support for the discerning wearer.

The 86′ LO, another standout, breathes new life into the Rivalry ’86 Low silhouette. With a full premium washed suede upper and a contoured rubber outsole, it effortlessly combines modern aesthetics with classic charm. The color options – ‘Sesame,’ ‘Clay,’ and ‘Talc’ – provide a spectrum of choices for fashion-forward enthusiasts.

Completing the quartet is the ADILETTE, a slide designed for comfort and style. Featuring a low-profile shape, supportive footbed, and distinctive 3-Stripes branding with a stitch motif on the forefoot, this slide is a testament to the meticulous detailing characteristic of Fear of God collaborations. The Fear of God logo is elegantly embossed on the sole, adding a signature touch to this laid-back yet sophisticated footwear option.

Prices for the Fear of God Athletics collection range from $100 for the Adilette to $1,250 for duffel bags, positioning it between Fear of God Essentials and the label’s main collection. Check out the collection available online via the Fear Of God website, adidas CONFIRMED, as well as select adidas DTC stores, all offering enthusiasts a chance to experience the fusion of style and performance in this unique collaboration.
