IWC Portugieser Chronograph Year Of The Dragon | Limited Edition Masterpiece Inspired By Wood Dragon
In anticipation of the upcoming Chinese New Year, IWC unveiled a distinguished timepiece to commemorate the Year of the Wood Dragon— the IWC Portugieser Chronograph Year of the Dragon. In a blend of exquisite craftsmanship and symbolic design, this limited-edition watch is set to captivate watch enthusiasts and collectors alike.
The Portugieser Chronograph Year of the Dragon boasts a 41 mm stainless steel case with a slim bezel and piston-style pushers. The rich burgundy dial has gold-plated hands and numbers, creating a subtle two-tone appearance that symbolizes luck, joy, and passion. The dial’s design pays homage to the Year of the Wood Dragon, featuring a dragon-shaped rotor visible through the see-through sapphire glass back. This limited edition timepiece takes inspiration from the Portugieser Automatic 40 Edition, released in 2022, to celebrate the Year of the Rabbit. The watch also features vertically aligned and snailed sub-counters with a 30-min totalizer at 12 o’clock, small seconds at 6 o’clock, embossed gold-plated leaf hands and minutes/hours markers, sapphire crystal with AR coating, and water resistance up to 30 meters. The watch comes with a black calfskin strap featuring a butterfly clasp and an additional burgundy rubber strap.
The timepiece runs on the 69355 Caliber, an IWC-manufactured automatic movement. The movement has a frequency of 28,800 vibrations/hour and features column-wheel design features, 27 jewels, and a bidirectional pawl-winding system that provides a 48-hour power reserve.
The Portugieser Chronograph Year of the Dragon retails for $8,450 and is not just a masterpiece; it’s a limited-edition marvel. Limited to 1,000 pieces, this exclusive watch is currently available through IWC boutiques, authorized retail partners, or on the IWC website.
