Zenith, renowned for its rich heritage in watchmaking, has unveiled its latest masterpiece, the Zenith Defy Extreme Diver, at the prestigious Watches & Wonders Geneva 2024 event. Breaking new ground with its new exploration timepieces, this exclusive diver pays homage to Zenith’s historic Defy series while embracing contemporary demands for durability and functionality.
Rooted in a legacy of innovation, Zenith introduced the Defy series in 1969, which is dedicated to crafting robust timepieces tailored for specific purposes. Among its iconic creations was the Defy Diver, exemplified by the A3648 reference, renowned for its octagonal case and vibrant orange accents. Fast forward to 2021, Zenith propelled the Defy lineage forward with the Defy Extreme series, setting the stage for the unveiling of the Defy Extreme Diver at Watches & Wonders Geneva 2024. Inspired by the historic A3648, this modern rendition seamlessly integrates into the Extreme concept, marrying heritage with contemporary design.
The Zenith Defy Extreme Diver boasts a 42.5mm angular brushed titanium case, a ceramic black or blue unidirectional rotating bezel with Super-LumiNova markings, a screwed-in crown, flat sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment on both sides, transparent sapphire crystal caseback, helium escape valve, blue or black-toned sunray brushed dial with a starry sky pattern, oversized, rhodium-plated, faceted and coated with Super-LumiNova X1 hands, oversized, rhodium-plated Super-LumiNova X1 hour indices, a date window at 3 o’clock, and 600-meter water resistance. The watch comes with an interchangeable strap system that includes a black or blue rubber strap with a folding buckle, a black or blue fabric with a pin buckle, and a titanium bracelet with a folding clasp.
The Defy Extreme Diver runs on the El Primero 3620-SC, a high-frequency automatic movement derived from the renowned El Primero 3600. It features a paramagnetic escapement, star-shaped oscillating weight with satin finishings, and a 60-hour power reserve.
