LEGO continues its space-themed sets with two new offerings: the LEGO Art: The Milky Way Galaxy and the LEGO Icons NASA Artemis Space Launch System. Both sets, scheduled for release on May 18th, are geared toward adult fans of space exploration and LEGO construction.
The LEGO Art: The Milky Way Galaxy set is designed for those who appreciate both the wonders of the universe and the intricacies of art. This set includes 3,091 pieces, which come together to form a layered mosaic of our galaxy. The set features astronomical landmarks like Trappist-1, the Pleiades, the Crab Nebula, and the Pillars of Creation, and a tile marked ‘You are Here’ that shows Earth’s location.
The set’s layered construction creates a 3D effect, making it visually striking. The completed set measures 15.5 inches tall, 25.5 inches wide, and 2 inches deep and has a specially curated soundtrack accessible via QR code.
Meanwhile, the LEGO Icons NASA Artemis Space Launch System set celebrates the engineering marvel behind NASA’s moon missions. This detailed model, consisting of 3,601 pieces, replicates the rocket of the Artemis I mission in Lego, including its multi-stage launch system, solid-fuel boosters, and the Orion spacecraft.
When fully assembled, this set stands 27.5 inches tall, 12 inches wide, and 10.6 inches deep. It’s a 1:144-scale model of the Artemis rocket, meticulously replicating the intricate details of NASA’s cutting-edge space exploration technology. It includes a display plaque with comprehensive information about the SLS and Orion spacecraft and a detailed mobile launch tower with retractable umbilicals and a crew access arm.
Both sets will be available for purchase on May 18th. However, members of LEGO Insiders, the company’s loyalty program, have early access starting May 15, 2024. The LEGO Icons NASA Artemis Space Launch System retails for $259.99, while the LEGO Art: The Milky Way Galaxy costs $199.99. Check out the official Lego website for more information.
