Zenith has partnered with Japanese bag brand Porter to launch two limited-edition timepieces. The Pilot Automatic Porter Edition and Pilot Big Date Flyback Porter Edition feature a matte khaki ceramic case and are limited to 500 pieces.
The watches are offered in two sizes. The Pilot Big Date Flyback Porter Edition measures 42.5mm, while the Pilot Automatic Porter Edition measures 40mm. The khaki tone is extended onto the dial, which features a textured, grooved design inspired by the corrugated metal sheets of vintage aircraft fuselages. Bright orange-colored hour, minute, and second hands provide a striking contrast against the dial, which enhances legibility. The orange accents also reference the orange interior of Porter bags. The chronograph hands on the Pilot Big Date Flyback Porter Edition are the same bright orange color.
The oversized Arabic numerals, filled with white Super-LumiNova, further improve readability even in low-light conditions. A luminescent flat line replaces the numeral at 6 o’clock, inspired by the artificial horizon instruments in planes. The dial also includes a ‘Pilot’ inscription, highlighting Zenith’s exclusive rights to this term and its deep ties to aviation history. Zenith and Porter’s logos are also on the dial, signifying their collaboration.
Both models include oversized black PVD crowns featuring an angular design, a characteristic of the Zenith Pilot collection. The Pilot Big Date Flyback Porter Edition also has black PVD pushers, adding to its bold look. Anti-reflective, scratch-resistant domed sapphire crystals are on both sides for clear visibility. The see-through case back is also made from sapphire crystal, while the specially designed rotor resembles an artificial horizon instrument, further emphasizing the timepiece’s aviation influences.
The high-frequency automatic caliber, the El Primero 3620, powers the Pilot Automatic Porter Edition. This movement, known for its incredible precision, operates at 36,000 vibrations per hour (5 Hz), providing a power reserve of around 60 hours. The Pilot Big Date Flyback Porter Edition, on the other hand, features the El Primero 3652. This movement is equipped with additional features, including a flyback chronograph and a big date display at 6 o’clock, which features a patented compliant mechanism to ensure a rapid jump of the date wheels. Like the 3620, the 3652 operates at 5 Hz and has a power reserve of 60 hours.
Two strap options are offered, giving wearers the choice between a sporty or classic look. One option is a durable khaki nylon strap with orange Velcro elements and the PORTER logo stitched on it. The other is a khaki rubber strap with a Cordura texture, secured by a black PVD steel folding clasp.
The Pilot Automatic Porter Edition is priced at CHF 10,900, while the Pilot Big Date Flyback Porter Edition is priced at CHF 14,900. Each watch is limited to 500 pieces. Both models are exclusively available through Zenith boutiques worldwide, in-store and online. Each purchase comes with a specially designed messenger bag by Porter.
