Collective Horology and ZENITH have partnered once again for another exclusive edition of the DEFY Skyline. This time, the duo has transformed the modern classic into a 20th-century industrial-inspired timepiece using the ‘less is more’ approach.
The timepiece, officially named the DEFY C.X Edition, refines the original version with a fully sandblasted matte finish on its faceted steel case and integrated bracelet. The matte finish is contrasted by the polished finish on the side of the dodecagonal bezel and the side of the case back, resulting in a rugged, understated sophistication.
The dial of the DEFY Skyline C.X Edition is matte silvery-grey and features the DEFY Skyline’s signature starry sky pattern. The pattern exhibits a three-dimensional engraving that is deeper at the center and fades towards the outer edge, producing a gradient effect.
Unlike standard DEFY Skyline models, the C.X Edition omits the date window for a cleaner look and repositions the 1/10th of a second counter to 6 o’clock for a more symmetrical appearance. Vibrant orange accents, including the tip of the 1/10th of a second hand and the ’10’ mark, add a pop of color and continue the industrial theme.
The DEFY Skyline C.X Edition is powered by a modified El Primero 3620 automatic high-frequency caliber version. This movement powers the 1/10th-second indicator, provides a 55-hour power reserve, and includes a stop-second mechanism for accurate time-setting. In addition to the steel bracelet, the timepiece also comes with an orange-textured rubber strap to complement the orange accents.
Only 200 pieces of the timepiece are produced, and they are exclusively available through Collective Horology and the ZENITH online boutique. Beginning December 19th, select physical stores will also offer the timepiece, which is available for $12,300. For more information, visit ZENITH’s website.
