RIMOWA has collaborated with British artist Ptolemy Mann to give the newly released ‘Gloss Blue’ and ‘Gloss Ginger Yellow’ colorways from its Essential Cabin line an artistic twist. The lightweight polycarbonate carry-on suitcases have integrated Mann’s bold brushstrokes and vibrant tones into their shell, inspired by her Thresholds artwork series.
The design showcases layered ink prints inspired by Mann’s brushstrokes, enhanced by the grooved polycarbonate, which adds depth. In addition to the outer portion, the inside flex divider also includes a blue brushstroke.
This collaboration embodies the concept of traveling with art. It occurred from a chance connection when Mann was inspired by Copenhagen’s dark blue canals and colorful architecture during her artist residency program in the city. Coincidentally, Rimowa was also drawn to the city for color inspiration for its 2024 product line.
The Ptolemy Mann x RIMOWA Cabin Threshold suitcase is now available on RIMOWA’s website for $1,450.
