Fabrizio Buonamassa of Bulgari and Maximilian Büsser of MB&F partnered to produce a reimagined version of Bulgari’s iconic Serpenti timepiece. Officially known as the Bvlgari x MB&F Serpenti, this watch draws inspiration from the serpent-like head of the Serpenti Misteriosi.
The timepiece has a large, unique, technical case produced after hundreds of sketches and 3D-printed models. The intricate construction features complex curves extending to the five sapphire crystals, including the snake’s eyes and multi-faceted rear section. Inside, a self-winding MB&F movement with a 14 mm balance wheel powers the watch and offers a 45-hour power reserve. Two aluminum domes display hours and minutes, while the back includes a power reserve display.
Apart from the apparent serpent-like look, the design also showcases distinct automotive details. It mimics the sleek aerodynamic profile of 1960s mid-engine cars with a short nose, a forward-pushed cabin, and an engine bay preceding the rear wheels. Engine-like design elements are also incorporated into the movement, with components resembling engine valve covers and a grille.
The Bvlgari x MB&F Serpenti is available in three variations: stainless steel and black PVD, titanium, and rose gold. Each is limited to 33 pieces. The stainless steel, black PVD, and titanium versions cost $148,000, while the 18k rose gold version costs $170,000. For more details, visit the brand’s website.
