IWC Schaffhausen Honors ‘The Little Prince’ With Two Limited-Edition Tourbillon Timepieces

IWC Schaffhausen expands its iconic Pilot’s Watches collection with two new special editions inspired by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s famous novel, ‘The Little Prince.’ The models are the Big Pilot’s Watch Perpetual Calendar Tourbillon Le Petit Prince and the Big Pilot’s Watch 43 Tourbillon Le Petit Prince.

The Big Pilot’s Watch Perpetual Calendar Tourbillon Le Petit Prince features a 46.5mm blue ceramic case, making it the first IWC Le Petit Prince watch made from ceramic. The watch’s dial is in a matching blue color, as well as its textured rubber strap. Contrasting the blue tones are the case back ring and crown in 18-carat 5N gold and the gold-plated appliques and hands, which are filled with Super-LumiNova.

The watch features two high complications, a perpetual calendar and a flying minute tourbillon — both powered by the IWC-manufactured 51950 caliber. The flying minute tourbillon at 12 o’clock features a small cage that completes a rotation every minute to enhance precision. The perpetual calendar displays day, date with a power reserve indicator, month, four-digit-year, and a moon phase depicting the Little Prince on his asteroid.

The second timepiece, the Big Pilot’s Watch 43 Tourbillon Le Petit Prince, features a 43 mm platinum case. Its deep blue sunray-finished dial includes rhodium-plated hands and applied numerals that are filled with Super-LumiNova. The IWC-manufactured 82905 calibre powers the flying minute tourbillon at 6 o’clock, which appears to float against the dial’s dark backdrop. With an integrated stop mechanism, the tourbillon can be halted to set the time precisely to the second.

Similar to the first timepiece, the sapphire glass caseback showcases oscillating masses in the shape of the Little Prince standing on his asteroid. A brown calfskin strap with a platinum folding clasp completes the watch.

The Big Pilot’s Watch Perpetual Calendar Tourbillon Le Petit Prince is limited to 100 pieces, while the Big Pilot’s Watch 43 Tourbillon Le Petit Prince is limited to 150 examples. For further details, visit the brand’s website.
