Ahmed Seddiqi, the leading destination for luxury watches and jewelry in the UAE, has partnered with Ressence to unveil a special edition of the TYPE 9 S75, marking the retailer’s 75th anniversary. The watch features a dial embedded with sand sourced from the deserts of all seven Emirates of the UAE.
The Grade 5 titanium dial is visually stripped down by eliminating traditional hands, instead indicating only hours and minutes. The dial integrates real sand bonded to titanium minutes and hours discs, giving it a textured, organic appearance while maintaining legibility and functionality. This material choice evokes the timeless imagery of the desert and the ancient symbolism of the hourglass reimagined through a modern lens. The engravings on the dial are filled with green Grade A Super-LumiNova, enhancing legibility even in low-light conditions.
Housed in a polished 39mm Grade 5 titanium case, the Type 9 weighs just 40 grams. It remains true to Ressence’s distinctive single-surface time display, incorporating titanium-circled details, fluid lugs, and a bezel that functions as a minute indicator.
The Type 9 S75 is powered by Ressence’s patented ROCS 9 (Ressence Orbital Convex System), a module driven by the minute axle of a customised automatic base caliber. This self-winding movement provides a 36-hour power reserve. The watch is paired with a sleek 20/18mm camel leather strap with a matching polished ardillon buckle in Grade 5 titanium.
According to Mohammed Abdulmagied Seddiqi, CEO of Ahmed Seddiqi, ‘The watch is a unique tribute to the nation’s landscape, heritage, and innovative thinking. This limited edition not only reflects our deep cultural roots but also symbolises the partnership between Ahmed Seddiqi and Ressence, blending tradition with cutting-edge horological craftsmanship.’
Only 20 examples of the Type 9 S75 will be produced, each available for $19,500 via Ressence.
