Android Homme ‘Made in Italy’ Collection

Android Homme 'Made in Italy' Collection

We first covered Android Homme a short-while back when we had the opportunity to meet the founder and designer of the LA-based brand, Javier Laval. When you can see the passion and confidence in a person’s eyes, you’re automatically drawn to the them and that’s what happened with Javier. Now, with the release of the brand’s Made in Italy collection, he’s really got our attention. “I wanted to offer our customers the joy of owning a beautifully designed, authentic product from Italy for under $300,” said Laval. The lineup features a few different styles in both high-top and low-top variations. The pieces are everything you’d expect when each pair is hand made by a small family of cobblers on the Adriatic coast of Italy. The use of hand treated leathers, vegetable tanned leathers, 3M pull tabs, laser etched eyerows, and incomparable comfort is what sets this collection apart.

3.1 Phillip Lim ‘Trickers’ Spring 2013 Film

3.1 Phillip Lim 'Trickers' Spring 2013 Film

To coincide with the release of the Men’s Spring 2013 collection, 3.1 Phillip Lim has dropped an exclusive short film featuring the undiscovered art of “Tricking.” A collaborative effort between 3.1 Phillip Lim and fashion photographer Jacob Sutton, the video showcases the Spring 2013 Men’s collection in flight, on real life battling ‘Trickers’ Jason Mello and Micah Karns. For those not familiar, Tricking is a combination of gymnastics, martial arts, and b-boying. The moves require several different disciplines such as taekwondo and kung fu and push the boundaries of creativity in what the physical body can do.

The collection itself pulls inspiration from Barroco and Nipo-Brasileiro sub-cultures and interprets traditional Baroque with a youthful perspective of luxury and artisanal value. Expect strong lines, playful textures and youthful elegance.

Japan’s Roberu has released another product, this time offering up a leather card case with contrasting leathers and other fine details. It comes in four colorways — red, blue, grey and brown — and utilizes Roberu’s original camel upholstery around the interior, with special dye-based oil being applied on the exterior to give a softer finish. There are a few compartments and though the case is quite slim, it can hold a pretty substantial amount.

The Roberu Card Case is available now on Roberu’s online store for ¥4,935 JPY (~ $57 USD).

Louis Vuitton Foulards d'Artistes Scarf Collection at Dover Street Market Ginza

Louis Vuitton has launched its Foulards d’Artistes scarf collection in Tokyo with help from Olivier Zahm, editor-in-chief of French fashion magazine Purple. The scarves, designed by a group of international artists, made their retail debut at Dover Street Market Ginza this past Saturday with other LV stores getting the goods next month. Zahm also shot a series of photos of the scarves and brings more light to another photography exhibition he is doing at Tokyo’s Last Gallery, originally owned by the late Dune magazine founder and publisher Fumihiro Hayashi.

The Foulards d’Artistes collection is produced each season in collaboration with a specific artist, and for this edition New York-based Japanese creative Aiko was asked to create the new, graffiti-inspired prints. (via super)

Saint Laurent Men's Spring/Summer 2013 Lookbook

Following up on Saint Laurent’s intro video from late last week, we’ve gotten our digital hands on the label’s Spring 2013 lookbook. The French fashion house has a new Creative Director in Hedi Slimane and though the direction of Saint Laurent (formerly Yves Saint Laurent) has shifted from a branding and marketing point of view, the genius of Slimane has not. This isn’t Dior Homme but Slimane’s slim silhouette’s have made their way into the Parisian label’s S/S 2013 lineup by way of trim garments, sharp tailoring, leather trousers, biker jackets and denim.

MBFW | Public School Spring/Summer 2013 Presentation

Earlier today, New York-based Public School presented their S/S ’13 collection during an eventful Sunday at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week here in NYC. The inspiration behind their latest lineup is “structure” as they looked to classic architectural forms to help frame the collection both historically and figuratively.

We examined the concept of “structure” and how it exists contextually within society. We were very interested how a delicate balance and network of relationships helped to form structure and provide a base in which all law and order was supported.

Mismo Spring/Summer 2013 Collection

Mismo Spring/Summer 2013 Collection

In 2003, Rikke Overgaard and Adam Alexander Bach launched Mismo, a bag company that looked to deliver high quality goods that were crafted from top-notch materials and fitted with minimalistic detailing. They’ve certainly succeeded as the label’s gotten global recognition and some tremendous cosigns from several major publications. They’ve taken the covers off their S/S 2013 collection, one that’s just as promising as their first and there are some distinct differences from past collections, all of which we’re happy to see. Rikke and Adam have loosened up a bit for the summer months, giving us bags that are fitted with vibrant colors and playful prints.

Mismo’s original mustard yellow makes a strong return, accompanied by new floral and denim-inspired materials, and a handful of new bags. The new styles are actually some of the most versatile bags we’ve seen on the market, as they allow you to shift from office to gym to a weekend getaway with ease. There’s no real label to each, so you can grab the one you dig the most and mold it to your lifestyle.

Mismo‘s S/S ’13 collection is quite extensive and we’ve got looks at our favorite pieces below.

Del Toro Shoes at Project NY

Del Toro Shoes at Project NY - Spring/Summer 2013

Del Toro Shoes is showing at this week’s Project tradeshow in New York. The brand’s experienced very rapid growth rate as of late and they’re showing no signs of letting up. They’ve expanded the offerings quite a bit and their latest lineup includes chukkas with some exceptional detailing and a continuation of their foundation which was built on the velvet slipper. What we dig the most? Del Toro‘s cap toe shoes with some vibrant detailing as well as their double monks featuring camo uppers. Game. Over.

Ben Sherman Plectrum 'Jazz Life' Collection - Spring 2013

Another day here at Project NY and we’ve got some great looks from Plectrum by Ben Sherman their Spring 2013 collection. Dubbed, “Jazz Life,” the lineup takes inspiration from the Jazz scene of 1960’s America, a time of sharp styles and new sounds. Ben Sherman’s latest offerings blend musical influence with style, creating a new silhouette and inspired design detail, lending the collection a more contemporary sensibility. Throughout the offerings, look for some amazing prints and a vibrant colour palette. Shirts get various print themes, including art deco inspired geometrics and dobby detailing layered onto pinstripes and checks. More imagery of the line below.
