Seems multi-billion dollar acquisitions is all the rage these days. The latest involves Google snatching up Nest for $3.2 Billion. Nest is best known for their Smart Thermostat, one you can find now at the Apple Store as well as through various other retailers. The company’s been making a strong push into the home and they recently unveiled Nest Protect smoke and carbon monoxide (CO) alarm to their lineup as well. Google’s tried to help us be more connected with our homes before through their own smart thermostat as well as Google TV, both of which were epic fails.

When you look at where connected home technologies are going, this acquisition makes complete sense and the price tag was just a drop in the bucket for Google when you look at their $50 billion-plus asset pile.
