Wire is a new cross-platform messaging app that’s built for mobile, tablet and desktop. Made by folks formerly at Skype, the design is vivid and allows for pics to be thrown into the conversation in full-width. Soundcloud and Youtube links embed right in stream as well. You can also talk with folks in your contact list and hand those conversations between devices; if you’re talking on your iPhone and open your Macbook, a popup asks if you want to hang the conversation over. You can turn a 1-to-1 conversation into a group chat and tastefully ping folks to get their attention as well. In all honesty, the app still has a few steps to take before it’s the perfect messaging app but it’s definitely got our attention. Wire is available now for iOS, Mac OSX, and Android as well with a browser version on the way.
