Presented by Norton
We recently hosted a series of screenings across the country to promote the release ofIn Search of the Most Dangerous Town on the Internet, a documentary commissioned by Norton that highlights all the forces that fight and promote cybercrime in the small town of Romania that’s been dubbed, “Hackerville”. For us, it was about raising awareness for cyber threats that are more relevant to us than ever before. We work, shop, and do just about everything else on the Internet and we wanted to ensure this was true for each and every individual that came out to these screenings. The result was rooms filled with socially relevant people that risk their privacy every single day to impact their respective industries. We’re talking notable photographers, videographers, media marketers, writers, and more. The documentary was well received and followed up by a really engaging panel discussion moderated by our very own Atif Kazmi. Members of the panel included Director of Product Management for Symantec Security Response Kevin Haley, freelance cyber security editor Zack Whittaker, and Complex’s Senior System Architect Francis Van Wetering. The audience really got involved and asked some pertinent questions that resonated with everyone that was in the room, us included. One audience member mentioned the growing threats we’re facing and asked what Norton’s doing on the backend to get ahead of hackers. Another was concerned about the risks we’re facing on mobile devices and what preventive measures we all can take to safeguard ourselves from threats. We’ve put together a video from our New York screening that captures key responses from our panelists, which you can check out below. Let us know your thoughts in the comments section and be sure to head on over to MostDangerousTown.com to watch In Search of the Most Dangerous Town on the Internet.
