If you love your sneakers and have an interest in design, history and culture, then ‘Out of the Box: The Rise of Sneaker Culture’ is definitely a book for you. It was published as an illustrated companion to ‘The Rise of Sneaker Culture’ exhibition which debuted at the Brooklyn Museum this month, but even if you don’t attend the exhibition, you may want this one on your coffee table.

The book explores the history of sneaker designs and collector culture from the mid-nineteenth century until today. It features rare archival styles and iconic pieces from leading brands like Converse, Nike, adidas, and Reebok. It also includes interviews with industry leaders like Nike designer Tinker Hatfield.

Published by Skira Rizzoli, the 256-page hardcover is now available for purchase on MR PORTER.
