Apple’s New iMAC Receives An M4 Chip, Apple Intelligence, 4.5K Retina Display, And Vibrant Color Options
Apple announced the release of a new version of its beloved iMac, which received major upgrades with the new M4 Chip and Apple Intelligence. The new model is not only faster and more capable than previous versions but also available in an array of fresh new colors and features an elegant, ultra-thin design.
The M4 gives the iMac up to 1.7x faster performance in daily tasks and up to 2.1x more power for intensive workflows than the M1. It features the world’s fastest CPU core for quick performance and an immensely powerful GPU that enables excellent graphics. The Neural Engine in the M4 chip is also 3x faster than on iMac with M1, making it the ultimate all-in-one for AI. The excellent performance allows it to be used for photo and video editing, productivity tasks such as Microsoft Excel, and even for advanced gaming.
The latest model includes a 24-inch 4.5K Retina display with a nano-texture glass option offered for the first time. This reduces glare while maintaining image clarity, allowing users to place their devices even in bright, sunny areas. It also features a new 12MP Center Stage camera with support for Desk View. The Center Stage feature keeps video calls even more engaging by automatically centering the subject, while Desk View uses the wide-angle lens to show the user a top-down view of their desk.
The iMac also enters a new era with the introduction of Apple Intelligence. Utilizing the power of Apple Silicon and the Neural Engine, it transforms user interactions through several features, including Writing Tools that refine text, a redesigned Siri for both spoken and typed commands, summarized notifications, and various new features in the Photos app. Additional features are set to roll out in the coming months, promising to take the user experience even further.
The new iMac is available in seven colors: pink, purple, yellow, orange, green, blue, and silver. Each features a bold dual-tone finish at the back with a subtle shade of the same color in front. Every iMac also includes a color-matched Magic Keyboard and Magic Mouse or optional Magic Trackpad, all equipped with a USB-C port.
All four USB-C ports on the new iMac support Thunderbolt 4 for quick data transfers, allowing users to connect it to several accessories to support their work. In addition, Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 are supported, and unlocking your computer is made easy with Touch ID. The new iMac experience is completed with macOS Sequoia, which includes new features, including iPhone Mirroring, Highlights in Safari, a new Video Viewer, Distraction Control, and Personalized Spatial Audio.
The new iMac is available to pre-order and will be available on November 8th. The 8-core model starts at $1,299 with 16GB of unified memory, while the 10-core model starts at $1499. For more information, visit Apple’s website.
