Grace Wales Bonne FW25 Collection Celebrates Black Women’s Influence On Fashion

For FW25, Grace Wales Bonner has crafted a collection that radiates romance and deep nostalgia. Building on her exploration of 20th-century Black style, Bonner collaborated with Chicago-based artist Theaster Gates to celebrate the enduring influence of Black women in shaping cultural narratives.

The collection’s first striking feature is the monochromatic portraits, part of Gates’ The Black Image Corporation project. Photographs by Moneta Sleet Jr. and Isaac Sutton, originally published in Ebony and Jet, are reinterpreted in overdyed prints and denim jacquard. A vibrant cobalt blue shirt stands out, featuring a repeating glamour shot that may subtly reference Warhol’s Marilyn Monroe prints. Meanwhile, another look boldly places the same glamour shot on a white tee paired with a yellow and brown puffer vest with beige workwear trousers.

Wales Bonner also collaborated with English menswear manufacturer Crombie to make a navy wool grate coat with brown leather piping and gold buttons. Other outerwear includes a beige Japanese canvas work coat with gold lock closures and an Italian leather flight jacket with curly fur accents on the collar and cuffs. The collection also features romantic details in jewel-toned knitwear and lace-like woven fabric.

While an official release date is yet to be announced, keep an eye on the Wales Bonner website for updates.
