Apple is making Apple TV even more immersive, convenient, and enjoyable with the release of tvOS 26. The update introduces a new design featuring Liquid Glass, which delivers a visually dynamic experience while keeping content at the center. The Apple TV app is also updated with cinematic poster art and an improved layout that makes it easier to access and discover entertainment.
With tvOS 26, users can set profiles to appear automatically when Apple TV wakes, allowing for quick access to personalized recommendations and Watchlist in the TV app, as well as playlists in Apple Music. In addition, tvOS introduces a new API for developers that links login credentials directly to an Apple Account, simplifying the sign-in process across apps and devices.
FaceTime with tvOS 26 includes Contact Posters that make contacts more personalized. Live Captions are also expanded to more languages, including French, German, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, and Mandarin. Additionally, FaceTime audio and phone call notifications will display onscreen for the active profile and can be answered via connected HomePod speakers or iPhone.
Apple Music Sing also gets a major update with support for using an iPhone as a wireless microphone. Users can amplify their vocals, queue songs, and react with onscreen emojis for interactive sing-alongs enhanced by real-time lyrics and visual effects. In addition, Apple Music now includes Lyrics Translation and Pronunciation, enabling users to sing along and follow the music no matter the language.
The full update for tvOS will be available this fall as a free software update for all users. For more information, visit Apple’s website.
