Ressence Pays Tribute To Japanese Indigo Art With The TYPE 8 INDIGO

Ressence has released a limited-edition timepiece to celebrate Shellman’s retail expansion in Tokyo. Known as the TYPE 8 INDIGO, this stunning timepiece is inspired by the traditional Japanese art of indigo dyeing. The watch adds to The Indigo Project, an initiative led by Shellman.

The TYPE 8 INDIGO incorporates indigo into its design using an artisanal approach. To do this, they collaborated with indigo specialists at BUAISOU to adorn the dial with hand-dyed silk thread. This also marks the first time Ressence has used an Arts & Métiers craft in one of their watches. The result is a textured dial with intricate embroidery-like patterns and subtle gradient tones achieved through the natural dyeing process.

Encased in grade 5 titanium with a 42.9mm diameter, the TYPE 8 INDIGO retains the specifications of the TYPE 8 model. It is powered by the patented Ressence Orbital Convex System 8 module with a customized automatic base caliber, offering a 36-hour power reserve. A warm gray Saffiano calf leather strap completes the watch.

Ressence’s TYPE 8 INDIGO is priced at 25,000 CHF and can be viewed at Shellman’s Isetan Shinjuku Watch Shop in Tokyo. For more details, visit the Ressence website.
