JR, French contemporary artist and winner of the 2011 TED Prize, recently teased his Instagram followers (and eventually the world) with a poster of his upcoming short film, The Ghosts of Ellis Island. The post said: “Proud to share the poster of my new short movie ELLIS! Preview at the New Yorker Festival on october 4th.”
The film will star Robert de Niro, and feature the little-known territories of Ellis Island in New York City, which served as the gateway for refugees to enter the United States between 1892 and 1954. Catch JR’s Ellis preview at the New Yorker Festival in a couple of weeks.
