Young designer John Elliott debuted a highly conceptual Spring/Summer 2017 collection during New York Fashion Week: Men’s, taking inspiration from the seas and aquatic life. More specifically, there was a focus on Watching Water. While his previous fall 2016 collection was darker and built around a Berlin nightclub aesthetic, this line is dominated by lighter and brighter hues with its spectrum of pastel greens, blues and pinks. The looks were airy, light and fun – something that the designer was going for in his new creations. There was an island vibe evoked through the clothing, which featured draped knits, ponchos, terry cloth shorts and tops and silk bomber jackets. To add to the production, models walked to the live soundtrack of ambient composer and hip hop artist Lee Bannon. Check out John Elliott’s SS17 collection in the gallery above.
